About Community Fund Limited

Community Fund Limited is a private company that was formally called Rural Empowerment Trust -MF.CF-MF is registered with the registrar of companies, under the Ministry of Justice, in Uganda. CF-MF is a tier 4 microfinance Institution in Uganda.

Community Fund Microfinance is regulated by the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority under Ministry of Microfinance. Community Fund evolved from Action for Rural Women Empowerment and beginning dependent operations in 2007 as Rural Empowerment Trust Limited.

The ARUWE-NGO had been administering agriculture credit to Women since 2004 while working with Global Fund for Women – U.S.A. An organization supporting Women Empowerment and Rights around the world. In March, 2014, RET-MF became Community fund Limited. CF-MF provides loans to Active poor groups and individuals especially the women and youth who would want to improve on their livelihoods.

CF-MF is currently working in four districts including Kiboga, Kampala Wakiso and Kyankwanzi Districts. Although CF-MF is still small; it aspires to grow into a MDI: deposit taking Institution. There is currently more potential for CF-MF to reach to other areas of Uganda as investment capital, becomes available. CF-MF works closely with the mother organization ARUWE – NGO and the two complement each other ‘while the main: emphasis of this model is on sustainability of community based projects at the household Level. CF-MF is majorly collaborating with ARUWE – NGO on the ARUWE group /cooperatives model that supports farmers to Improve on their Farm production during Harvesting, Value addition and access to markets.

Community fund Microfinance is a tier 4 micro finance institution regulated and supervised by Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA) under the Microfinance Act, 2016. In the Ministry of Micro finance of Uganda. Community Fund has grown to become one of the Rural based microfinance in Uganda, providing financial access in hard to reach areas especially to the rural poor people.

Community Fund serves its clients through the satellite offices in Gayaza, Bukwiri and Ntwetwe sub counties under Kyankwanzi and Kiboga district. Community Fund manages its satellite regional offices through Lwamata and Kiboga town council branch offices , Seeta in Mukono district and Kampala head office. Community fund has got full time staff in its offices serving a total of approximately 1500 clients to-date.
